What is a digital photo booth and how is it different from a regular photo booth?

How is the digital photo booth different from the Selfie Pod?

Same chassis, same camera, same software — the printer is what's different. The Selfie Pod prints 2×6 strips on a dye-sub printer AND shares digitally; the digital booth does digital-only. The Selfie Pod also runs attended or unattended; the digital booth is unattended / self-service only — designed as a drop-and-go unit at a lower hire cost. How much does digital photo booth hire cost compared to the Selfie Pod?

Slightly lower than the Selfie Pod. Removing the printer takes out the dye-sub consumables (paper + ribbon per session) and the lighter operational footprint reduces the hire overhead. The exact figure depends on event type, distance from our Surrey base, hire duration and any add-ons (backdrop, audio guestbook, custom pod wrap). Corporate and brand-event pricing is on a separate tier to weddings and private parties.

Do guests get any printed copies or is it digital only?

Digital only — that's the point of the digital booth. Every capture goes straight to a phone via QR code, email, SMS or AirDrop, and lands in a branded online gallery delivered to the host after the event. If you want prints alongside the digital share, the Selfie Pod is the version with a 2×6 strip printer included — both can run side-by-side at one event if you want maximum guest options (and we hire twin setups regularly for that).

How do guests receive their photos?

Four ways, picked on the touchscreen — QR code (scan and download), email, SMS or AirDrop. The digital file is high-resolution, ready to post on Instagram, WhatsApp or save as a profile picture without resizing. After the event the host gets a branded online gallery of every shot from the night.

Can the digital booth do GIFs and boomerangs?

Yes — guests pick the format on the touchscreen. Still photo, GIF or boomerang, all delivered to the phone in the same share flow. Because there's no printer, all three formats get the same treatment — the digital share IS the keepsake.

How much space does the digital photo booth need?

Around 1m × 2m total — the pod itself takes about the same floor space as a standing adult, with the rest for guests to pose in front. No ceiling clearance issue. We fit digital booths into hotel hallways, conference floor space, brand-activation footprints, marquee corners and corporate reception areas regularly.

Is the digital booth attended or unattended?

Unattended / self-service only — that's part of how we keep the hire cost down. We deliver, set up, test, and leave the booth running for the duration of your event; a team member stays contactable for the duration of the hire so we can step in if needed. The touchscreen is designed for guests of every age to use solo, and for the events the digital booth fits best (brand activations, conferences, content-led launches), drop-and-go is usually the preferred operations model anyway. If you specifically want an attendant on the booth throughout, book the Selfie Pod instead — same chassis, prints + digital, attended option available.

Can we add custom branding to the photos?

Yes — a branded overlay is included on every hire as standard. Send us your logo, monogram, event name, brand artwork or hashtag at booking and it's applied to every digital share. Corporate activations and brand launches often pair this with a custom backdrop and a fully-branded wrap around the pod itself.

Can the pod be wrapped in our branding?

Yes — full custom pod wrap is a popular add-on for brand activations, product launches and trade-show stands. The exterior of the pod is wrapped with artwork to your spec, turning the booth itself into a campaign asset alongside the digital shares. Flag it at quote stage and we'll quote in the wrap design and production lead-time.

What software experiences can the digital booth run?

Almost the entire Surrey FaceBooth experience library — the Kardashian Glam Booth (high-glam black-and-white studio finish), the Newspaper & Magazine Cover Experience (guests on a custom front page), the AI Photo Booth, Elf Yourself AI, custom layouts and themed overlays all run on the digital booth hardware. The one experience that needs different kit is the Green Screen Dream Machine, which uses a dedicated booth.

For corporate events and brand activations, can you capture guest data?

Yes — for corporate events, brand activations, trade shows and product launches we can email-gate the digital download (guests enter their email before getting their photo) and send you a post-event report. The digital booth is particularly well-suited to this flow because the digital share is the only output — no parallel print path to bypass the email gate. Does the digital photo booth work outdoors?

Yes, in sheltered conditions. The pod is rated for indoor and covered-outdoor use on a solid level surface — a marquee, gazebo or building canopy is fine; bare grass or open-sky with weather risk is not. The electronics aren't weatherproof.

How many guests can fit in a shot?

Usually 2–6 depending on how close they're willing to stand. Group capacity is set by the field of view of the built-in camera rather than a hard limit — bridal parties, team groups and friendship circles all fit fine with a bit of shuffling.

Can we add a custom backdrop?

Yes — backdrops are a common add-on. Sequin walls (gold, silver, rose-gold), floral walls, custom-printed branded backdrops, and themed backdrops for seasonal events (we run circus, Christmas, Gatsby and a few others) are all available. Flag the look you're after at quote stage and we'll match.

Can we pair the digital booth with an audio guestbook?

Yes — the Audio Guestbook sits next to the pod (or on a side table) and guests leave a voice message after grabbing their digital share. One booking, one delivery. Popular at weddings where a digital-only booth is paired with a take-home audio keepsake.

Can we have two digital booths at the same event?

Yes — twin setups are available for large brand activations, corporate conferences and weddings with 200+ guests. Two pods on the same hire doubles the throughput and halves the queue. We can also pair a digital booth with a Selfie Pod at the same event if you want one booth doing prints and one doing digital-only.

Are props included?

Yes — props are included as standard. The exact selection rotates depending on what's in the kit on the day. If you've got a specific theme in mind (Christmas, Gatsby, 70s disco, branded props for an activation) flag it at quote stage and we'll do our best to match.

Is the digital photo booth suitable for kids?

It works fine for kids 7+ who can reach the screen comfortably. For dedicated kids' events where the screen height and overlay library need to suit younger guests, the Kids Selfie Pod is the right unit — same compact chassis, sized for younger guests, with a curated kid-friendly overlay library.

How is the digital booth different from the Ring Roamer?

Different format entirely. The Ring Roamer is a handheld rig our operator carries through your event — always attended, no fixed footprint, the booth comes to the guests. The digital photo booth is a fixed stand-up pod that sits in one spot — guests come to it, self-service, drop-and-go. Both are digital-only output. Pick the Ring Roamer when you want roaming coverage; pick the digital booth when you want a fixed photo zone that runs itself.

How far in advance should we book?
