Guests step up to the mirror, animated prompts talk them through striking a pose, and a DSLR with studio-style lighting captures the shot. On the touchscreen they sign their name or draw a message, the mirror reveals the photo with their signature on top, and a custom-branded 6×4 print lands in the tray seconds later. After the event, every shot from the night is delivered to the host as a branded online gallery.

It's the most interactive booth in our range. The mirror talks, it animates, and every guest gets a step where they sign or draw on their own print before the reveal. Full-length frame so guests can stand close for a head-and-shoulders shot or back off for a group — framing scales with the distance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a magic mirror photo booth and what makes it "magic"?

A full-length illuminated mirror that doubles as a touchscreen photo booth. Guests step up, the mirror talks to them with animated prompts, a DSLR captures the shot, and a custom-branded 6×4 print lands in the tray seconds later. The "magic" is the interaction — guests sign or draw on the screen before the photo is released, and the mirror reveals their picture with the signature on top. It's the most-interactive booth in our range.

Can guests sign or draw on their photos?

Yes — this is the magic mirror's headline feature. Every print includes a touchscreen signature step where guests write their name, draw a doodle, or leave a short message on the photo. The signature is overlaid on the print they take home and on the digital copy in the post-event gallery. Wedding couples end the night with a stack of personalised prints from every guest, which works as a guest book in its own right.

How does the mirror take the photo?

Guests tap the touchscreen to start, animated prompts count them down, and a DSLR mounted behind the mirror captures the shot when the countdown finishes. The prompts are how the booth times the picture — there's no face-detection sensor; the tap-and-countdown flow is what makes the interaction feel like the mirror is talking back to you.

How big is the mirror and how much space does it need?

The mirror itself is about 1m wide × 0.5m deep × 1.5m tall — a full-length illuminated frame. Total floor space needed is about 1m × 2.5m: the mirror against a wall or backdrop, with around 2m of clear space in front for guests to pose. Power is a single standard 13A socket.

How tall is the mirror and what does the photo look like?

The mirror is 1.5m tall — about head-height for a typical adult. Shot framing is adjustable depending on how far back guests stand: close-up couple shots, full-length bridal-party shots, or wider group shots all work. The DSLR and studio-style lighting mean every print looks clean regardless of venue lighting.

Does the magic mirror print on the spot?

Yes — every shot prints as a 6×4 photo on a dye-sublimation printer in about ten seconds. Dye-sub means dry, smudge-proof prints ready to handle straight out of the tray. Single 6×4 photos only on this booth — no 2×6 strips (that's the Selfie Pod and Retro Pod).

Does the magic mirror do GIFs or boomerangs?

No — the mirror is a stills-and-signature booth. GIFs, boomerangs and AI experiences run on the Selfie Pod and Retro Pod hardware. The magic mirror runs its own dedicated software for the animated-prompt + sign-on-screen flow, which is why it's a different booth.

Can guests share their photos to their phone on the night?

The magic mirror is print-on-the-night. Live AirDrop / QR / SMS sharing-to-phone runs on the Selfie Pod and Retro Pod; the mirror's flow is sign, reveal, print. Every guest gets their printed copy at the booth, and after the event the host receives a branded online gallery of every shot from the night to share with everyone.

Do we get a digital copy of every photo after the event?

Yes — included on every hire. After the event we deliver a branded online gallery of every shot from the night (including the on-print signatures) to the host. The host shares the link with their guests, who can download their own copies any time.

Can we add custom branding to the prints?

Yes — a custom-branded overlay is included as standard on every magic mirror hire. Wedding monograms, couples' names and dates, corporate logos, event names, hashtags — send us your artwork at booking and it's applied to every 6×4 print and every photo in the post-event gallery.

Is the magic mirror attended?

Either — your call. Hires run attended (a Surrey FaceBooth team member at the mirror throughout, working the queue, handling props and helping guests with the sign-on-screen step) or unattended (self-service touchscreen; a team member is in the area for the duration of your hire so we can step in if needed). For weddings the attended option is the popular pick because the sign-on-screen step works better with someone helping the flow; for corporate parties unattended works fine if you want the floor to itself. Tell us which at quote stage.

Is the magic mirror suitable for weddings?

It's our most-booked booth for weddings. The full-length frame suits formal attire, the sign-on-screen step gives the couple a stack of personalised guest signatures by the end of the night, and the custom-branded prints carry the couple's names and date on every photo. Pair with an Audio Guestbook for voice messages alongside the signed prints and you've got a complete keepsake set.

What software experiences run on the magic mirror?

The magic mirror runs its own dedicated software — animated prompts, sign-on-screen and the reveal sequence. The rest of our experience library — Kardashian Glam Booth, Newspaper & Magazine Cover, AI Photo Booth and the others — runs on the Selfie Pod and Retro Pod hardware. If you want one of those experiences, those booths are the pick; if you want the mirror's signature + reveal flow, the mirror is its own thing.

How is the magic mirror different from the selfie pod?

Different booth, different output, different vibe. The Selfie Pod is a slim modern tower with a built-in HD camera, 2×6 photo strips, GIFs and boomerangs, live phone-sharing and every software experience in the library. The magic mirror is a full-length illuminated mirror with a DSLR, 6×4 prints, sign-on-screen and a talking-mirror reveal. Pick the selfie pod for software flex, fast throughput and digital sharing. Pick the mirror for the interactive signature flow and the statement-piece look.

How is the magic mirror different from the vintage photo booth?

Same DSLR + dye-sub printer internals, completely different chassis and software. The Vintage Photo Booth is a hand-finished mid-century wooden booth — designer furniture in its own right, no signature step, no talking mirror, runs the standard photo + filter flow. The magic mirror is a modern illuminated mirror with the interactive sign-on-screen software. Same print quality, very different feel.

How is the magic mirror different from the 360 video booth?

Different output entirely. The 360 Video Booth is a slow-motion video platform — guests step on, an arm spins around them, and they get a shareable video clip. The magic mirror is a stills booth with a print as the keepsake. Lots of weddings and brand events book both — 360 for the social-share clip, mirror for the printed-on-the-night keepsake.

Does the magic mirror work outdoors?

Yes, in sheltered conditions. The mirror is rated for indoor and covered-outdoor use on a solid level surface — a marquee, gazebo or building canopy is fine; bare grass or open-sky with weather risk is not. The electronics and the illuminated frame aren't weatherproof.

Are props included?

Yes — props are included as standard with every magic mirror hire. The exact selection rotates depending on what's in the kit on the day. If you've got a specific theme in mind (wedding, Christmas, Gatsby etc.) flag it at quote stage and we'll do our best to match.

Can we add a backdrop?

Yes — backdrops are a popular add-on for the magic mirror because the full-length frame photographs particularly well against one. Sequin walls (gold, silver, rose-gold), floral walls, custom-printed branded backdrops, and themed backdrops for seasonal events are all available. Backdrops aren't bundled by default — tell us the look you want at quote stage.

Can we pair the magic mirror with an audio guestbook?

Yes — popular wedding combination. The Audio Guestbook sits next to the mirror and guests leave a voice message after their signed print is released. One booking, one delivery, two keepsakes for the couple.

How much does magic mirror hire cost?

Pricing depends on event type, distance from our Surrey base, hire duration and any add-ons (backdrop, audio guestbook). Use the instant quote builder to get a tailored figure in under a minute — drop in your date, postcode and event type and we'll come straight back. Corporate and brand-event pricing is on a separate tier to weddings and private parties.

How far in advance should we book?

As early as you can — peak Saturday wedding dates and December corporate parties book out furthest ahead. Weekday and off-peak dates are often available with much shorter notice. Send your date and postcode through the instant quote and we'll confirm availability straight away.

Why the Magic Mirror is the most-interactive photo booth in the range

The magic mirror isn't a faster booth, a cheaper booth or a smaller booth — it's the most-interactive one. Three reasons. First, the talking mirror — animated prompts walk every guest through the pose, so even guests who'd normally hang back at a photo booth step up. Second, the sign-on-screen step — every guest signs or draws on their own print before the reveal, so the couple ends a wedding with a stack of personalised guest signatures rather than just photos. Third, the statement-piece look — a full-length illuminated mirror is a feature of the room before it's a photo booth, pulling a crowd by being part of the décor.

What's included in Magic Mirror photo booth hire as standard

  • Full-length illuminated magic mirror (1m × 0.5m × 1.5m)
  • DSLR with studio-style lighting
  • Dye-sub printer — instant 6×4 photos with custom branded overlay
  • Animated talking-mirror prompts + sign-on-screen / draw-on-screen step
  • Custom branded overlay on every print (logo, names, monogram or hashtag)
  • Branded online gallery delivered after the event (every signed shot included)
  • Props provided
  • Attended OR unattended hires (your choice at booking) — team member in the area for the duration of every hire
  • Public liability insurance and full delivery / setup / collection

Add-ons available with Magic Mirror photo booth hire

  • Backdrop — sequin walls (gold, silver, rose-gold), floral walls, branded printed backdrops, or themed seasonal backdrops. The full-length mirror photographs particularly well against a backdrop, so this is a popular pairing
  • Audio guestbook pairingAudio Guestbook next to the mirror for voice messages alongside the signed prints; popular wedding combination
  • Themed props on request — flag a theme at quote stage and we'll do our best to match

Space, power and venue requirements for the Magic Mirror

  • ~1m × 2.5m total — mirror footprint plus ~2m of clear space in front for guests to pose
  • 1 × standard 13A socket
  • Indoor, or covered outdoor on a solid level surface (marquee / gazebo / canopy — not bare open-sky)

How a Magic Mirror photo booth hire runs on the day

  1. Quote and book — drop your event date, postcode and event type into the instant quote, confirm with a deposit, and send us your logo, names or monogram for the overlay.
  2. On the day, before guests arrive — we turn up 30–60 minutes before your event start time and have the mirror set up and tested in another 30–60 minutes.
  3. Guests use the mirror — they step up, animated prompts talk them through the pose, a DSLR captures the shot, and they sign or draw on the touchscreen. The mirror reveals their photo with the signature on top and dispenses a 6×4 print in about ten seconds. On attended hires the team member keeps the queue moving and helps guests with the signature step.
  4. Take-home keepsake on the night — the printed signed photo is the on-the-night output (live phone-sharing isn't a mirror feature; that's the Selfie Pod flow).
  5. After the event — we pack down and send you a branded online gallery of every signed shot from the night, ready to share with your guests.

Magic Mirror vs Vintage Photo Booth vs Selfie Pod — which to pick

All four open-style booths cover different sales angles:

  • Magic mirror — full-length illuminated frame, DSLR, 6×4 prints, sign-on-screen signature step, talking-mirror reveal. Mirror-only software (no GIFs, no Glam, no AI experiences). Pick this for the interactive signature flow and the statement-piece look — especially for weddings.
  • Vintage Photo Booth — hand-finished mid-century wooden booth, DSLR, 6×4 or 2×6 prints. Same print quality, completely different chassis aesthetic. Pick this if you want the booth itself as designer furniture in the room.
  • Selfie Pod — slim modern tower, HD camera, 2×6 strips + GIFs + boomerangs + live phone-sharing, runs every software experience (Glam, Magazine Cover, AI, custom layouts). Pick this for software flex and digital sharing.
  • Retro Pod — wooden tripod with shield-shaped fascia, same internals as the selfie pod. Pick this for vintage styling at a lower price point than the Vintage booth.

The mirror's specifically the right call when the signature step is the feature you want (weddings, milestone parties) or the statement-piece look is what the room needs (corporate launches, brand activations, milestone birthdays in big venues). For everything else, the selfie pod is usually the default.

Events where Magic Mirror photo booth hire fits best

  • Weddings — the headline use. Full-length frame for formal attire, sign-on-screen step gives the couple a personalised guest book in prints, custom overlay carries the couple's names and date on every shot. Pair with an Audio Guestbook for a complete keepsake set
  • Milestone birthdays — 30ths, 40ths, 50ths, 60ths and 80ths; the signature step works particularly well as a personalised souvenir for the birthday host
  • Corporate Christmas parties — custom-branded overlay carries the company logo on every print guests post, the full-length mirror pulls a crowd in big venues
  • Corporate launches and brand activations — the mirror is a feature of the room before it's a booth; works well as the centrepiece of a launch space
  • New Year's Eve parties — the illuminated frame and animated overlays suit the night
  • Hotel and country-house venues — full-length frame photographs particularly well against grand venue interiors

Sign-on-screen — the signature step

Every guest gets a touchscreen step before their print is released. They sign their name, doodle a message, or draw on the photo — the mirror reveals their picture with their signature on top, then dispenses a 6×4 dye-sub print with the signature included. Wedding couples end the night with a stack of personalised prints from every guest.

Custom-branded 6×4 prints — wedding monograms, event names, logos and hashtags on every photo.

A statement piece for the room

The mirror itself is the visual hook. A full-length illuminated frame standing in the room, talking to guests as they walk past, drawing them in before they've even tapped the screen. Most booths sit unnoticed until someone queues; the magic mirror pulls a crowd by being a feature of the room first and a photo booth second.
