What Is a GlamBot? The Slow-Motion Red Carpet Video Booth Explained

You may have seen it at an awards night or in a friend's wedding video: a camera swooping around a guest in glossy slow motion, as if they'd just walked a red carpet. That is a GlamBot. If you're wondering what it actually is, how it works on the night and whether it suits your event, this guide explains it plainly.

So, what is a GlamBot?

A GlamBot is a video booth built around a robotic arm. The arm sweeps a high-frame-rate camera through a programmed, cinematic arc around each guest, and the result is a short slow-motion clip with a "shot for TV" finish. It captures video only, so it doesn't produce stills.

It is a centrepiece rather than a corner-of-the-room booth. Two studio softbox lights flank the camera so every guest gets the same flattering light, and a red carpet pose mark with stanchions and ribbons shows guests exactly where to stand and where to queue. Our GlamBot video booth hire comes with all of that as standard.

How does a GlamBot work on the night?

Our operator arrives ahead of your event, sets up the robotic arm, the studio lighting and the red carpet kit, and runs every session. A GlamBot is always attended, so there is nothing for your guests or your venue staff to operate.

Guests step onto the pose mark, the arm sweeps through its arc, and a slow-motion clip lands on their phone within seconds by QR code, email, SMS or AirDrop. Finished clips play back on the operator's screen, so the queue can see what's coming, and that queue tends to become part of the entertainment.

What do guests actually get?

Each guest leaves with their own shareable video, sized for Instagram Reels, TikTok and Stories, so there's no resizing before posting. You can add a branded overlay to every clip, such as names, an event name, a logo or a hashtag. A branded online gallery is delivered after the event.

It's the closest thing to a red-carpet moment that an event can offer, and the booth itself becomes the centrepiece of the room.

Props, a pose mark and a moving camera make for a very shareable clip.

Where does a GlamBot work best?

It suits events where you want a real moment of glamour: black-tie dinners, awards nights, product launches and brand activations. It also works well at weddings, themed parties and Christmas gala season. Browse our wedding photo booth hire and brand activation photo booth hire pages to see how it fits those events.

It runs indoors, or in a covered outdoor space on a solid level surface, such as a marquee or canopy. Mention your venue when you enquire so we can check that the rig will suit the room.

GlamBot, 360 video booth or photo booth?

They each solve a different brief. The 360 video booth has guests stand on a low platform while a camera rotates around them, which is wide-angle, full-body and great for groups. The GlamBot is closer-up and more "celebrity portrait", with studio lighting aimed at the guest. A photo booth such as the Selfie Pod captures stills and can run attended or unattended.

Many larger events book a GlamBot for the headline moment alongside a photo booth for guest selfies through the night. Our guide to which photo booth is right for your event compares the options in more depth, and we first introduced the kit in our GlamBot launch post.
