We take that seriously. Surrey FaceBooth is a registered food business, fully compliant with food-hygiene law, and we run to the same clean, safe, trusted standards you'd expect from any top kitchen. Here's exactly what that means.

Registered with your local authority

Every food business in the UK has to register with its local council, and we're registered with Elmbridge Borough Council's environmental health team. That's not a badge we bought — it's a legal registration that puts us on the council's radar and holds us accountable to exactly the same food-safety law as a restaurant or café. At our most recent inspection, on 29 June 2026, we were confirmed as fully compliant.

Our standards don't change from one booking to the next. Whether it's a wedding, a school fair or a corporate summer party, the same routine applies:

  • Spotless equipment. Every machine, cart and serving tool is cleaned and sanitised before and after each event — never "close enough", always properly done.
  • Safe food handling. Ingredients are stored, transported and served following food-safe practice, so what reaches your guests is exactly as it should be.
  • Fresh, quality ingredients. We use quality syrups and treats, and for younger guests we offer a glycerol-free slush option on request.

A note on the 1–5 rating — why we're outside it

You'll be used to seeing the green Food Hygiene Rating sticker in shop and restaurant windows, scored from 1 to 5. It's worth being clear about how that applies to us.

The 1–5 scheme is built around fixed-premises kitchens that prepare and cook food on site. Because what we serve is low-risk — simple, largely pre-packaged treats rather than a full cooked menu — a mobile event caterer like us sits outside that scoring system. We're registered and fully compliant, but we aren't issued a 1–5 number, because the scheme isn't designed for our kind of business.

In plain English: not having a 1–5 rating isn't a gap in our standards — it's simply that the rating scheme is for a different type of kitchen. We hold ourselves to the standards of a top-rated one regardless, and you're always welcome to ask us anything about how we prepare and serve.
